The knee meniscus are very important and critical semicircular cushion part of knee joint which helps in shock absorbing, increase knee joint congruity and increase the life of knee joint. It helps in knee joint lubrication and synovial fluid distribution and articular cartilage nutrition. They contribute to knee stability and helps in knee gliding and rotatory function.
The medial meniscus is a C- shaped structure larger in radius than the lateral meniscus, with the posterior horn being wider than the anterior horn and both horns are attached to the proximal tibia.
The lateral meniscus is a more circular in form , covering upto 2/3rd of the articular cartilage of the underlying lateral tibial plateau.
Good symptomatic relief, especially for small tears upto grade 2 but they cannot cure large bucket handle tears and root tears
With the increasing technology in Knee arthroscopy and availability of instruments and equipments for meniscus repair, Arthroscopic meniscal repair is now the Gold standard treatment of choice for the meniscal tears. The principle of meniscal balancing in which irreparable parts of meniscus are excised and the reparable part are sutured and hence helps in preserved meniscal function and in turn increasing joint longevity and function , its truly a Joint Preservation surgery in itself.
In some patients where there is combination of medial meniscus root tears and tibia or femur varus deformity then combined Arthroscopic medial meniscus root repair with High Tibial Osteotomy or Distal Femur Osteotomy (DFO) is done to protect the meniscal repair , correct the mechanical axis of lower limb and prevent the rapid acceleration of knee arthritis which otherwise may increase
My wife recently underwent Ligament surgery at Anant Orthopedics Hospital under the care of Dr. Hiren Patel, and I cannot praise them enough. From the initial consultation, Dr. Hiren Patel was patient, knowledgeable, and answered all my questions, which made me feel very safe. The nursing staff was incredibly attentive, compassionate, and went above and beyond to make my recovery comfortable. The hospital facilities were spotless and modern. I am now fully recovered and feeling great. Highly recommend this team!

If you are suffering from joint pain, sports injuries, or mobility issues, consult Dr. Hiren Patel for expert orthopedic care and advanced treatment solutions.
Knee ligament injuries like ACL, PCL, MCL, and meniscus tears are commonly caused by sports injuries, road traffic accidents, falls from height, degenerative changes, or inflammatory conditions.
Partial and stable tears can often be treated with medicines and physiotherapy. However, complete or unstable tears may require arthroscopic repair or reconstruction for proper stability and long-term joint protection.
Arthroscopic surgery is a minimally invasive procedure performed using small incisions and a camera to repair or reconstruct damaged ligaments or tendons, allowing faster recovery and minimal scarring.
Treatment depends on severity. Mild cases may improve with medicines and physiotherapy, while severe or chronic tears may require arthroscopic repair or advanced procedures like reconstruction or shoulder replacement.
Frozen Shoulder (Adhesive Capsulitis) is a condition where the shoulder joint becomes stiff and painful due to capsule thickening and inflammation. Early stages can be treated with medicines and physiotherapy. In resistant cases, advanced treatments like hydrodilatation or arthroscopic capsule release may be required.
